Our mission is simple; to lead people to life changing freedom!
Who are we?
Freedom Christian Church is an independent congregation, dedicated to the position of the New Testament Church. We do not claim to be the only Christians, but Christians only. We are a church for the unchurched. A family of loving and caring people who support each other and love God.
Our History
Freedom Christian church is dedicated to the position of the New Testament Church and claiming: no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible and no name but Christian. We do not claim to be the only Christians, but Christians only.
Originally formed on December 13, 1964 as 'Church of Christ - Cumberland, Maryland' our congregation held its first service at the Women’s Civic Club, 515 Washington Street. Services continued there until May 30, 1971. In 1966, we purchased ground on Winifred Road, our present site.
On September 15, 2019 the congregation voted to change from 'Winifred Road Church of Christ' to 'Freedom Christian Church'. Freedom Christian Church continues to be involved in fellowship ministry, Discipleship programs, outreach evangelism, and Children’s programs including Sunday School for all ages, Kids For Christ, Cedar Creek Christian Camp, Youth group, Vacation Bible School, D-group, outreach meals, ladies groups, and many more! We support 10 missions worldwide and also invest in local community needs.
